David F. Wheeler, President
David has been active in the marine industry for over 28 years in yacht management, operations, ownership and surveying and has over 50,000 accident free miles off shore experience in power and sailing vessels from 50’ to 135’ worldwide. He formed Wheeler and Associates Llc in 1998 and has expanded his operations to include offices in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and the state of Washington in the United States offering his services worldwide. He received surveyor training in California and Florida, is a Master Marine Surveyor and wrote the companies primary training manuals. He is a member of the United States Surveyors Association, the American Boat and Yacht Council and the Association of Certified Marine Surveyors and adheres to strict company and industry standards. He divides his time and travels regularly between Mexico and the United States where he lives with his wife Janie in Washington.  He is also a retired airline pilot with over 14,000 hours pilot in command experience in complex heavy aircraft and it is this combined background that enable him to perform dependable marine inspections and reports. Allan F. Smith, Treasurer
Allan joined Wheeler and Associates Llc in 2004 as an associate. He has since become a one third owner in the company, a Master Marine Surveyor and is also a member of the United States Surveyors Association, the American Boat and Yacht Council and the Association of Certified Marine Surveyors. He comes from an extensive background in Mechanical Engineering specializing in power and propulsion systems as well as composite molding techniques and systems. He also is a certified scuba instructor and owns and operates a sport fishing motor vessel in San Carlos, Mexico where he lives year around.  Allan also has many years sailing experience in Mexico, the United States and Europe and is a tremendous asset to our companies experience and technical expertise. He is very capable, professional and willing to perform professional vessel surveys and reports. DFW

 

 

 

 

Bob T. Buchanan, Secretary
Bob joined us at the same time as Allan in 2004 as an associate. He too is one third owner in our company and has completed his training and testing making him a Master Marine Surveyor as well. He is also a member of the American Boat and Yacht Council and the Association of Certified Marine Surveyors. Bob is a certified diesel and marine engine technician with a vast background in mechanical, electrical and systems operations and maintenance. He has extensive sailing experience in Canada, the United States and Mexico and owns and operates his own sailing yacht in Mazatlan, Mexico where he lives year around. Bob’s technical expertise in marine equipment is unquestionably a significant asset to our company and his vast background also enables him to perform excellent surveys and reports. Mel Barnes, Associate
Mel joined us in 2007 as an Associate. He is a Master Marine Surveyor and member of the American Boat and Yacht Council. Mel is a shipwright with an extensive background in marine construction, mechanics and electrical systems. He comes to us with 18 years experience in Canada and the United States including the Southern California areas. Mel’s background includes vessel ownership, management, construction and he has been designated captain on power and sailing vessels. He just completed his Master Marine Surveyor testing and will live in Cabo San Lucas Mexico with his wife serving that and other markets near by such as La Paz. He is a welcome member of out team and stands ready to serve you. DFW

 

 

 

Capt. Kim McDonald, Associate
Kim joined our team in March of 2007 as an Associate. His background begins with 30 plus years in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Marine Services in maintenance management for their fleet of Government Patrol Craft and staff. He is a graduate of the Pacific Marine Training Institute and holds a 350 ton Command Endorsement, was a Divisional Training Instructor, High Seas tactical assault instructor and vessel owner and operator. He now owns and operates his marine services business in Puerto Vallarta  where he lives year around with his wife and takes care of our Ixtapa and points south in Mexico, in Canada as well as worldwide. hi is Master Marine Surveyor Certifications by mid summer and is a member of ABYC and ACMS thru the company. His background is expansive and he is a great asset to the company. DFW

 

 

 

Capt. Jonnathan Barreiro, Associate
Jonnathan will join us in May of 2007 as an Associate. He will complete his USSA Master Marine Training this Summer and will handle our Mexico East Coast markets. He is a graduate of the Tampico Merchant Marine Academy, holds a STCW 95 degree as Chief Mate Unlimited, and has many years experience in off shore operations and many types of vessels. He has worked on and has instructed on large vessels including freight and oil tankers and holds the appropriate ratings and training certificates for load and stow procedures. He has also been trained in bridge crew resource management and operations, simulator training and safety management. He also received surveyor training from the McDerrmot Shipyards and performs marine surveys and consulting in Veracruz, Mexico where he lives with his wife and two children. He is a welcome source of professional information for our team especially with IACS and IMO.DFW

 

 

 

Capt. Jesse Cox, Associate
Jesse joined the company in May 2007 as an Associate. He comes to us with an extensive 30 year background in vessel ownership, operations and management. He owned his own Marine Sales and Service center, and managed up to 35 stores in Texas. He formed Reel Passion, a successful Charter fishing company and now operates  that business in the Gulf of Mexico. He has been actively involved in the design and production of Cobra boats including establishing its dealer net work in several States. He will complete his Master Marine Surveyor training during the summer of 2007 and is a member of ACMS, ABYC and USSA and is a USCG Captain. Jesse lives in San Antonio, Texas full time with his wife Teresa and will take care of the south Texas and Louisiana markets for us. His vast background in the marine community is unquestionably a great asset to our team. DFW

 

 

 

Capt. David Orchard
Dave Orchard comes to us with an extensive background in the marine community he had a career in engineering. He has been an avid boater most of his adult life and presently owns a beautiful off shore 45” sailing vessel located in Washington. He has cruised the East Coast of the United States including the Intercostals Waterway, Chesapeake Bay, the Leeward Islands, Lake Superior, the west coast of Skagway, Alaska to Panama, and the Coastal water of Mexico. He has been a crew member and first mate for our company for years during deliveries on both power and sailing vessels. Dave lives in the Pacific Northwest with his wife Cindy and will provide professional designated Captain Services for the company worldwide. He is a very knowledgeable safe mariner, with an impressive hands on resume and stands ready to serve when the need arises.DFW

 

 

Matthew Bennett
Joined the company in June, 2008, and comes to us with an extensive background in the marine industry including designated captain on yachts and super yachts in Europe, Mexico, Central America, Caribbean, and the Mediterranean. His professional certificates include RYA, Yacht master Offshore, Power Boat Level II, Diesel Maintenance, and Advanced Diver. Having joined the company in June 12, 2008, he will initially be assigned as an Associate Delivery Captain and provide vessel repair services to our client base. He lives in the Puerto Vallarta area with his wife and will handle deliveries for us at this time and plans to pursue professional surveyor training over the next few months. He brings to our table a vast level of experience and ability and is a welcome addition to our professional team.
